On the very edge of the Garden District with its storied streets and mysterious mansions there is one 1840's grey lady that is both wonderful and Odd above all others. Hidden in plain sight but long forgotten, the manse and its secret gardens loom behind the tall mossy walls. Passing through the the locked iron doors you are greeted to a luxurious hideaway unique to anything outside of the French Quarter.
Once inside the gates, you enter an enormous garden terrace that overlooks the main yard with lots of places to sit and relax as well as an antique outdoor dining table. Here you will find a lovely pool surrounded by old lavender stones with a fountain spouting from the creeping fig covered walls.
Two large antique French doors on the terrace open to the charming Living Room and Dining Room with very high ceilings and terra-cotta floors and a working fireplace. These rooms are decorated with European antiques and also modern sofas for comfort. Passing through an arched doorway there is a generous kitchen with tall wooden beamed ceilings, a 14' long stone topped island and painted exposed brick walls. The tall French doors in the kitchen provide beautiful light and great access to the pool just outside. The Kitchen is well equipped with a La Cornue range, Subzero refrigerator, large apron sink and Waterworks faucets. There is also a powder room off the kitchen.
Still on the ground floor passing through the Kitchen doorway you enter a lovely bar area which can be closed off and there is an additional truly charming Bedroom on the site of the original Stable at the Lodge. This Downstairs Bedroom also has a sofa and its own private courtyard and entrance...perfect for someone who wants a bit more privacy or a nanny etc.
Upstairs in the main house are the rest of the bedrooms including a generously sized Master Suite with lots of closets and an iron balcony. In the Master Suite the ceilings are 17' tall with multiple 10' windows and wooden shutters for privacy. All of the floors upstairs are antique hardwood. There is a lovely working (gas) fireplace for cooler nights as well. It is furnished as the rest of the house with many details and antiques as well as some smart modern touches. The Master Bathroom is en-suite Art Deco with a large marble soaking tub and separate shower.
The house is unusual in that two of the bedrooms operate as their own private suite area which can really be wonderful when one wants to have privacy. Downstairs is very open and both major rooms open on to the large terrace and create a spectacular openness onto the gardens which, when the weather is good, is really wonderful. In all, you have a true hidden garden hideaway for French alfresco living! *Please note that we have a one week minimum during Jazz Fest Wednesday - Wednesday.

Summary: The House and Garden have fairy tale properties. We were three adult couples with a dog. Each couple had their own suite with plenty of privacy and enough of it's own character to make everyone feel they had a special stay. I think our pug was happiest. He had the whole walled courtyard to run around and chase the many tiny lizards. The area is very walkable for people and pets. Everything you could want is a 5- 10 minute walk. Trolly takes you to Bourbon street in about 30 minutes or Lyft in 20. The character, history, beauty of the house was amazing. The first floor suite is just off the kitchen with a full size fridge and extra private courtyard, who knew staying in a stable could be so delux! Could go on and on but just so grateful to have found the place. Oh yea, did I mention the saltwater pool. By the time you are done exploring the city it feels real good!

Summary: This place exceeded our expectations. The home was exactly as described—immaculately clean, beautifully furnished, and tastefully appointed. The location was perfect, offering easy access and walkability to everything we needed. Parking at the house was simple and convenient. The surrounding neighborhood is safe and BEAUTIFUL. Communication with the host was seamless; they were responsive, helpful, and genuinely cared about our experience. Every little detail was thoughtfully planned to ensure a comfortable and stress-free stay. We prepared several meals in the incredible kitchen and enjoyed alfresco dining in the garden terrace. Everything was absolutely splendid! We’ve stayed in many vacation rentals before, but this one truly stands out. If you’re looking for a hassle-free, top-notch getaway, Oddfellows is it! Summary: the house is very nice. It was lovely to have the outside space to lounge in too. We didn’t use the pool as it was still too chilly outside. Beds were comfy and the kitchen had everything we needed. Owner was quick to come and fix the one issue we had.

Summary: My family and I had the absolute pleasure of staying at this property for our family vacation. The house is beautiful and just as pictured. The pool is salt water and was a godsend as we went in August. The privacy fence surrounding the property ensured our safety and allowed us to enjoy the landscaped yard fully. The property manager was very responsive to all our requests and made our stay super easy. The property is located centrally in NOLA and traveling to the French Quarter was a breeze. We loved this property and plan on returning again. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to bring their family down to NOLA and enjoy all the city has to offer!

Summary: Five adults traveled to celebrate the 80th birthday of our very youthful mom. We wanted to rent a home, and we wanted it to be special. This property was just perfect in so many ways. Starting with its cool history. The home is beautiful, and has that great combo of being large enough for everyone to have some private space, yet cozy enough that when we all gathered to hang out, it felt very homey- especially on some cold nights when our mom wasn’t up for going out on the town. The weather was unseasonably cold during our whole stay (a bit tough for those coming from AZ and CA!) but the location was within quick walking distance of so many places, that we didn’t feel like we needed to stay shut in or always be in a car. It’s an easy walk to a streetcar stop, and historical homes, some with descriptive plaques are everywhere you turn. It was nice to have the gated parking space. We also used ride share and never had to wait for a driver. The pool looks great and refreshing- for a hot day for sure! The bedrooms are en-suite, and each are unique with their own features. The kitchen spaces were great as well, with a huge island- a natural hang out spot. We played cards and dice at the dining table with comfy chairs. Our hosts were very friendly, responsive and helpful. We made great memories and we look forward to returning in the future!
